Talk like a pirate – or prepare to be boarded
Well I wouldn’t mind be boarded by er, but I digress.

Two people, John Baur and Mark Summers came up with Talk Like a Pirate Day. Every Sept 19th peoplecross the country a get the chance to talk like a pirate just for fun. In offices all over the nation, overworked employees get the chance to play at being a pirate and have good fun with it.
What a brilliant idea these two men had because it caught on like wildfire and each and every year it just becomes more and more popular.
To prepare for Talk Like a Pirate Day, you should practice incorporating pirate speak into your everyday speech. For example, let’s consider a typical conversation between two co-workers in a business office:
It’s 8 am and you’ve just sat down in your cubicle. another dreary day at the office.
Your telephone rings.
Suddenly Jack Sparrow arrives. It’s your chance. You ARE Captain Jack Sparrow.
You pick up the phone.
“Arrrgh”! “What be ye wanting this early in the morn?”
“Ah, did I get the wrong number”?
“No, ye silly wench. Now I’ll ask ye again before I pull out my blunderbluss, just to be making sure ye be understanding me right. What is it that ye be wanting this early, as with me being hung over with drinking too much rum and chasing too many wenches in the local tavern last night?”
Now if the silly wench on the other end of the phone doesn’t get it by now and isn’t laughing out loud, well, there’s your chance to make her see the light and maybe even get a date out of it.
Other clever things to say on Talk like a pirate day:
You’re at the water cooler and it’s empty.
“Why is the rum always gone?” This works quite nicely at the coffe pot, the refrigerator and the snack machine.
Be creative, be silly, be inspired by the most famous pirate in the whole world, Captain Jack Sparrow.
